During the 7th Law Convocation at Panjab University in Chandigarh, India, 601 law graduates were awarded their degrees. Chief guest Justice (retd) Dinesh Maheshwari, who is also the chairperson of the Law Commission of India, delivered a compelling address on the intersection of law and technology. He highlighted the significant role of artificial intelligence in the legal field, noting its capacity for processing information and drafting documents. However, he cautioned that law is not an algorithm and emphasized that true justice requires human wisdom and moral judgment. Justice Maheshwari urged the graduates to utilize AI as a tool to enhance their capabilities, rather than a replacement for their conscience. He encouraged them to engage with social realities and reflect on the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity as they embark on their legal careers. The event also featured welcoming remarks from Prof. Vandana Arora and Prof. Shruti Bedi.
