In response to concerns regarding the Online Scoring Mechanism (OSM) used in the board evaluation process, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a new fee structure for revaluation services. Effective immediately, students can obtain scanned copies of their answer scripts and verify their marks for ₹100 each, while correction requests will cost ₹25 per question. This revised fee structure represents a significant decrease compared to previous years, addressing student anxieties regarding the new digital evaluation system. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, emphasized that the OSM, which has been in planning since 2014, aims to enhance transparency and reduce totalling errors through standardized marking schemes. He noted that nearly 98 lakh answer scripts were scanned for evaluation, although over 13,000 could not be processed due to legibility issues. Kumar reassured students that CBSE remains committed to their welfare and has always offered provisions for revaluation and review.
