The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated work to resolve chronic waterlogging issues on a stretch of the Delhi–Meerut Expressway in Patparganj, East Delhi. This area, located under a flyover on National Highway 24, has faced significant water accumulation during even moderate rainfall, causing traffic disruptions and inconvenience for commuters. The Public Works Department (PWD) recently transferred responsibility for the area to NHAI, which has started raising the road level and constructing an improved drainage system to facilitate quicker rainwater dispersal. According to PWD minister Parvesh Verma, the project is expected to enhance traffic flow and minimize disruptions during monsoon seasons. The work is projected to take four to six months to complete, and ongoing monitoring will assess the effectiveness of the new measures. This intervention is part of a larger strategy to address flooding on critical arterial routes in the city.
