The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated a proposal to construct a culvert on NH-48 in Narsinghpur, Haryana, to mitigate the persistent waterlogging issues that plague this highway during the monsoon season. GMDA CEO PC Meena discussed the proposal with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) during inspections aimed at assessing stormwater management and flood preparedness in the area. Water from Narsinghpur and surrounding sectors frequently accumulates on NH-48, leading to significant flooding that disrupts traffic and daily life. The proposed culvert is designed to enhance drainage by directing stormwater from the eastern side of the highway towards the Najafgarh drain. However, the NHAI had previously rejected the construction proposal due to concerns about traffic load and structural safety. GMDA officials are set to meet with NHAI representatives at their Dwarka headquarters to discuss the proposal further. In addition to the culvert discussions, Meena inspected various sites, including the Tau Devi Lal Stadium and Rajiv Chowk, emphasizing the need for timely completion of drainage works before the onset of the monsoon.
