The Public Works Department (PWD) in Delhi is set to commence construction on the expansion of the Modi Mill flyover and the conversion of the Savitri Cinema flyover into a two-way road. These projects aim to address rising traffic congestion along the Outer Ring Road, a crucial route linking various parts of South Delhi. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma announced that the foundation stone will be laid next month, with a completion timeline of 24 to 30 months. The total cost for the projects is estimated at ₹412 crore (approximately $50 million USD), with ₹150 crore allocated for the current financial year. Traffic disruptions are anticipated during construction, but officials assure that measures will be taken to manage traffic flow. The Savitri flyover, originally built in 2001, will be expanded to accommodate two lanes in each direction, while the Modi Mill flyover's extension aims to segregate through traffic from local movements, improving overall traffic flow. These developments are part of a broader initiative by the Delhi government to create a signal-free corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Malviya Nagar.
