Maruti Suzuki India, the leading car manufacturer in India, reported record sales of 239,646 units in April 2023, reflecting a 33.29% increase from 179,791 units sold in April 2022. Domestic sales reached an all-time high of 191,122 units, surpassing the previous record of 182,165 units set in December 2022. The company's Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Partho Banerjee, attributed the growth to strong demand for small cars and SUVs, with mini car sales increasing by 153% year-on-year. Sales of compact cars also rose significantly, totaling 80,659 units compared to 61,912 units in April 2022. Additionally, the utility vehicle segment saw sales of 77,892 units, up from 59,022 units last year. Exports also surged to 40,054 units, a notable increase from 27,911 units in the same month last year.
