A Delhi court has dismissed the bail application of Abhishek Kumar Mishra, a deputy commissioner with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last month for allegedly accepting a ₹4 lakh (approximately $4,800 USD) bribe. Special Judge Sudhanshu Kaushik stated that releasing Mishra could send a negative message to society and compromise the integrity of the ongoing investigation. The judge noted that evidence, including recorded conversations, indicated that Mishra and his associate were involved in a conspiracy related to corruption. Witnesses have reportedly confirmed the demand and acceptance of the bribe, leading the court to conclude that Mishra's high-ranking position could pose a risk of influencing other witnesses. The court emphasized that the investigation is at a critical stage, and Mishra's release would not be appropriate at this time.
