A tragic road accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Abohar town, Fazilka district, Punjab, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including 60-year-old Devki and her four-year-old grandson Parmish. The incident took place when an e-rickshaw, driven by Deepak Swami, collided head-on with a speeding pickup truck. Devki and her family were returning from a condolence meeting when the accident happened near a petrol pump close to Ramsara village. The pickup truck reportedly lost control after hitting a pothole, leading to the devastating crash. The impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw was torn apart, killing Devki, Parmish, and the driver instantly. Devki’s daughter-in-law, Poonam, suffered serious injuries and is currently hospitalized, while another child, Ritika, aged one-and-a-half, escaped with minor injuries. The pickup truck driver, identified as Lalit Kumar from Kaithal, Haryana, has been arrested and charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including negligent driving and causing death by negligence.
