The Delhi government has approved the construction of a new medical college and hostel at the Indira Gandhi Hospital campus in Dwarka, with an estimated budget of ₹805.99 crore. The project, which aims to enhance medical education and healthcare services in the capital, will provide 250 MBBS seats, starting with an initial batch of 150 students. The construction is set to be completed by 2028 and will adhere to the National Medical Commission's standards. The campus will feature separate hostels for male and female students, faculty housing, and modern academic facilities, including advanced classrooms and laboratories. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of sustainable construction techniques, ensuring the buildings are earthquake-resistant and energy-efficient. Accessibility for persons with disabilities will also be prioritized, with features such as ramps and Braille signage. Gupta has mandated strict quality control and adherence to timelines to avoid delays and cost overruns.
