The Delhi government has launched 13 Mobile Heat Relief Units to address the ongoing heatwave, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagging off the initiative from the Delhi Secretariat. These units will offer services such as clean drinking water, oral rehydration solution (ORS) packets, first aid, and protective gear like cotton gamchas and caps to help residents cope with extreme temperatures. In conjunction with this, the government released a Heat Action Plan booklet aimed at raising public awareness about heatwave preparedness and preventive measures. Citizens are encouraged to stay hydrated and limit sun exposure during peak hours, with a 112 emergency helpline available for assistance. Gupta highlighted that the government is not only focusing on immediate relief but is also working on long-term solutions to address drinking water shortages in Delhi. A recent high-level review meeting assessed the city's water management strategy, ensuring that all major water treatment plants are operating at peak capacity to meet the increased demand during the summer months. The government is also collaborating with Haryana to monitor ammonia levels in raw water supplies to maintain treatment plant operations. Targeted measures are being implemented in water-stressed areas to bridge supply gaps across the city.
