Petrol pump dealers in Rajasthan have raised concerns over alleged restrictions imposed by oil marketing companies on fuel sales at retail outlets. According to the Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association, dealers received mobile messages and verbal instructions to limit petrol sales to ₹5,000 and diesel sales to ₹50,000 per consumer. Similar restrictions reportedly apply to other oil companies, including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL). The association's general secretary, Shashank Korani, emphasized that these limitations could lead to unrest at petrol stations and potentially disrupt law and order. Furthermore, the dealers highlighted that reduced fuel supply is causing petrol pumps to run dry, which could expose them to action under the Essential Commodities Act. The association has requested oil companies to issue formal written guidelines and communicate these changes publicly to avoid confusion among consumers.
