The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has received over 668,000 applications for the second edition of class 10 board exams, primarily for improvement of scores. The exams are scheduled to take place from May 15 to May 21, 2026, providing students with another opportunity to enhance their results.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that 6,68,854 candidates have applied for the second edition of the class 10 board exams, with 5,25,655 applications aimed at improving scores from the main examination. The exams will be held from May 15 to May 21, 2026. This new two-edition system allows students to take the first exam mandatorily, while the second serves as an additional chance for those in the compartment category or seeking score improvements. Candidates can improve their performance in up to three subjects, with 1,92,508 opting for one subject, 2,79,227 for two subjects, and 1,97,119 for three subjects. The board aims to reduce performance pressure through this flexible examination system. The results of the main exam, conducted for 24,83,479 students, showed a pass percentage of 93.70%, with results accessible via DigiLocker for those not taking the second exam.
