The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has released over 6.6 million textbooks for Classes 9 to 12, ensuring they are available at the start of the 2026-27 academic session, which began on April 1. This marks a significant improvement, as it is the first time textbooks have been accessible at the beginning of the academic year. The distribution includes 1.5 million books for Class 9, 1.62 million for Class 10, 1.97 million for Class 11, and 1.5 million for Class 12. The UP Board has implemented new measures to enhance the distribution process, mandating that publishers supply National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)-based textbooks directly to all 75 districts. This change aims to reduce reliance on unauthorized alternatives and ensure affordability for over one crore students in more than 29,000 schools. Additionally, the UP Board has organized book fairs, with a major event scheduled in Prayagraj starting on April 28. Strict compliance measures, including surprise inspections and legal actions against counterfeit textbook sales, have been established to uphold the integrity of the educational materials provided.
