A 13-year-old Class 8 student tragically lost his life and two others were injured when a truck struck them near their school in Dhoom Manikpur village, Dadri, Greater Noida, on Friday evening. The students from Navodaya Vidyalaya were returning from a handball match in Sambhal when the accident occurred around 7:30 PM to 8 PM. After their bus dropped them near a bridge close to the school, they were walking when the truck, reportedly skidding, hit them from behind. One child succumbed to a head injury during treatment, while another sustained a hand fracture and was referred to the district hospital. The third child suffered minor leg injuries and was discharged after first aid. The school principal, Amrit Kumar Ranjan, stated that the students had just alighted from the bus when the incident happened. Questions have since been raised about the supervision of the trip, with concerns that a mess helper accompanied the students instead of qualified teaching staff, as per norms requiring at least one teacher for every ten students. The deceased student is survived by his family from Jewar.
