Vedanta Ltd., India's largest aluminium producer, has warned that the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran could lead to a rise in aluminium production costs by $50–100 per tonne in the first half of FY27. The company has guided for an annual cost of production (CoP) for aluminium at $1,650–1,700 per tonne. Despite these geopolitical challenges, Vedanta anticipates an increase in aluminium output to 2.6–2.7 million tonnes in FY27, up from 2.46 million tonnes in FY26, alongside alumina production projected at 4–4.1 million tonnes. The firm reported a remarkable 92.3% jump in quarterly profit, driven by robust base metal prices, leading to a 29.5% rise in total revenue to ₹515.24 billion. Furthermore, Vedanta has approved a demerger into four distinct listed companies, effective May 1, which will separate its aluminium, steel, oil and gas, and power businesses.
