Residents reported being charged exorbitant fees, with some plumbers demanding up to ₹50,000. The PMC emphasized that only officially approved fees apply, warning citizens against paying unauthorized amounts to plumbers or middlemen. The fee structure varies depending on the size of the water connection and the number of flats it serves. For instance, a half-inch domestic connection for up to 12 flats costs ₹1,475, while larger connections can reach charges of ₹1.19 lakh for projects with over 384 flats. PMC officials stated that they will take strict action against any licensed plumbers found overcharging. Additionally, residents are encouraged to report any unreasonable demands to the Cantonment Water Supply Department. The PMC has also made a list of 575 licensed plumbers available on its website to assist residents in finding qualified professionals.
