Concerns about the MBBS examination results at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) in Punjab, India, have arisen due to a remarkable 65% of students who initially failed passing after a re-evaluation. Out of 1,091 candidates, 70 were declared failed on March 3, but 46 passed after the re-checking process concluded on April 2. The majority of these students were from private medical colleges. Notably, 62 students failed in forensic medicine and 8 in community medicine. BFUHS vice-chancellor Dr. Rajeev Sood stated that a special re-evaluation was ordered after noticing the high failure rate in one subject, leading to independent examiners reassessing the answer sheets. An inquiry has been launched against the examiner for strict marking practices, resulting in their suspension until the investigation is complete.
