Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Uttam Nagar and Jahangirpuri, New Delhi, were conducted without major incidents on Thursday, despite recent communal tensions. In Uttam Nagar, a procession honored Tarun Bhutolia, a 26-year-old Hindu man killed by a Muslim family last month. His photograph was displayed prominently during the 6km-long procession, which featured loud chants and songs. Police presence was heightened, with officials monitoring the event closely. Many local Muslim residents chose to remain indoors, reflecting ongoing unease in the community. In Jahangirpuri, a rally organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other groups saw over 500 participants. Although police restricted the route, the event concluded without violence, and some Muslim residents even participated by offering food to the attendees. However, police had to intervene later when a separate unauthorized procession attempted to form, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance in the area.
