Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has seen its shares rise by 1.09% to ₹263.70 after securing a significant contract from South Central Railway worth ₹242.49 crore for the upgradation of overhead electrification (OHE) infrastructure in the Ongole-Gudur section of the Vijayawada Division. This project entails the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the upgrade from a 1x25 kV system to a 2x25 kV alternating current feeding system, covering a total of 154 route kilometers (equivalent to 462 track kilometers). The contract, awarded under general conditions to a domestic entity, is expected to be completed within 24 months. Importantly, the order does not involve any related party transactions, and there is no interest from the promoter or group companies in the awarding entity. Additionally, RVNL reported a 3.65% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹322.83 crore for the third quarter of FY26, compared to ₹311.44 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, with operational revenue increasing by 2.56% year-on-year to ₹4,684.46 crore.
