Pune, located in Maharashtra, India, is expected to avoid a heat wave alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for several other districts in the state. According to S.D. Sanap, a senior meteorologist at IMD Pune, the city will experience dry weather over the next 48 hours without a significant rise in temperatures. Although maximum temperatures have been above normal recently, Pune is not under any heatwave warning. In contrast, districts such as Sangli, Solapur, Akola, Amravati, and Yavatmal are under a yellow alert, indicating caution due to expected heatwave conditions. This alert is anticipated to expand to eight additional districts in Vidarbha and Marathwada by April 16. Meteorologists have attributed these conditions to multiple weather systems affecting the region. Furthermore, the IMD has indicated that Maharashtra is likely to receive below-normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon season from June to September, with emerging El Niño conditions expected to further weaken precipitation across the state.
