The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has announced that advance registration for the annual Amarnath Yatra will begin on April 15 at 554 designated bank branches throughout India. The registration process will follow a first-come, first-served basis, adhering to a fixed daily quota for each route. Only individuals aged between 13 and 70 years will be eligible for registration, and women who are more than six weeks pregnant will not be allowed to participate, even with a health certificate. For the 2026 yatra, registration will transition to an Aadhaar-based biometric eKYC authentication system, with online permit generation through the shrine board's official portal. In case of technical difficulties with biometric authentication, a manual data entry option will be available. Pilgrims must also submit a valid compulsory health certificate issued on or after April 8, 2026, along with a fee of ₹150 (roughly $2 USD) per permit.
