The Tribune flyover project in Chandigarh, which has faced delays for nearly seven years, is set to begin construction in the first week of May 2024. Singla Constructions Limited emerged as the lowest bidder at ₹147.98 crore, which is approximately 31% lower than the estimated cost of ₹214.66 crore. The flyover will span 1.6 kilometers, connecting the GMCH-32 roundabout to the railway overbridge on Dakshin Marg, and aims to facilitate signal-free traffic flow, alleviating congestion for commuters traveling between Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. The project was initially conceptualized in 2016 and received approval in 2019, but was stalled due to a high court stay on tree cutting, which was lifted in April 2024. The foundation stone was laid on March 3, 2019, by then UT administrator VP Singh Badnore, marking the project's long-awaited progress.
