Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a plan to digitize patient records at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) as part of an initiative to streamline healthcare services. This pilot project will focus on five departments: pathology, radiology, mycology, biochemistry, and pharmacy, allowing patients to access their medical information without needing paper documentation. Sukhu also highlighted the state's commitment to allocate ₹3,000 crore (approximately $360 million USD) for advanced medical equipment to bolster healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, he directed officials to develop a comprehensive nutrition policy by May 31, aiming to make Himachal Pradesh the first state in India to implement such a policy. In a separate meeting, Sukhu reviewed the ₹2,687 crore (approximately $323 million USD) Resilient Action for Development and Disaster Recovery-Himachal Pradesh (READY-HP) project, which focuses on rebuilding infrastructure and supporting livelihoods affected by natural disasters, following significant losses from recent calamities.
