Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a plan to digitize patient records at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) as part of an initiative to streamline healthcare services. This pilot project will focus on five departments: pathology, radiology, mycology, biochemistry, and pharmacy, allowing patients to access their medical information without needing paper documentation. Sukhu also highlighted the state's commitment to allocate ₹3,000 crore (approximately $360 million USD) for advanced medical equipment to bolster healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, he directed officials to develop a comprehensive nutrition policy by May 31, aiming to make Himachal Pradesh the first state in India to implement such a policy.
