The Jalandhar excise department and district police arrested Rajinder Kumar Bhatia (alias Raju Chauhan), a 52-year-old man, for operating a liquor smuggling racket disguised as 'Raju juice corner' in Raj Nagar, Jalandhar West, Punjab. During the raid on Wednesday, authorities seized 60 cases of illicit Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and Punjab-made liquor (PML). Bhatia has been involved in this illegal trade for over five years and has multiple cases against him under the Excise Act. His associate, Deepak, was also arrested. Assistant excise commissioner Navjeet Singh reported that the operation was sophisticated, with hidden bunkers constructed in both Bhatia's shop and residence. One bunker was cleverly concealed behind a mirror, making it appear as a solid wall. Furthermore, Bhatia had installed numerous CCTV cameras to monitor the movements of law enforcement. A case has been registered against both individuals under the Excise Act at the Basti Bawa Khel police station.
