On Thursday, officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Meliora Chigoze Uzor, a 45-year-old tutor from Nashik, Maharashtra, at Surat Railway Station. They seized 6,321 grams of Methamphetamine, a banned drug, from her luggage on a train traveling between Delhi and Mumbai. The drugs, hidden in seven packets, are valued at over ₹25 crore (approximately $3 million USD). DRI officials acted on a tip-off and intercepted Uzor upon the train's arrival. She was found carrying two trolley bags and a backpack, which contained the concealed drugs. Investigations revealed that she was likely delivering the drugs to a contact in Mumbai after receiving them at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi. Uzor has been placed in judicial custody for 14 days and faces charges under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
