The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has taken strict measures to combat absenteeism affecting the ongoing census work. During a review meeting led by Pradeep Dahiya, the principal census officer and MCG commissioner, officials revealed that approximately 500 out of 600 deployed supervisors and enumerators were absent. In response, Dahiya directed that notices be issued under Section 11 of the Census Act, 1948, with legal action for those who do not comply. Attendance at mandatory training sessions from May 5 to May 7, 2026, is required for absent staff. To improve oversight, zonal grievance cells will be established for daily progress reviews and field inspections. Dahiya emphasized the importance of quality and accuracy in the census work and urged cooperation from councillors, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and citizens to ensure the process runs smoothly.
