The Association of United College Teachers (AUCT) has expressed serious concerns regarding the ongoing delay in implementing the 7th pay commission benefits for teachers at affiliated colleges in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. In a letter to the deputy registrar (colleges) at Panjab University, the AUCT highlighted the failure to honor commitments made during a meeting with the vice-chancellor on January 2, 2026. Despite assurances and a deadline of January 31 for completing the implementation process, no visible progress has been made, leaving educators frustrated. AUCT general secretary Jaspal Singh noted that over 85 days have passed since the deadline, with teachers still awaiting clarity on their pay scale benefits. Furthermore, AUCT president Tarun Ghai mentioned that a review process for non-compliant colleges was to be conducted in batches, but no action has been taken. The association is urging university authorities to expedite the process and provide a clear statement. The deputy registrar, Surjeet Thakur, referred inquiries to the Dean College Development Council, but attempts to reach DCDC Ravi Inder Singh for comments were unsuccessful.
