Lucknow University (LU) has announced a series of reforms aimed at ensuring a smooth and error-free evaluation process for its examinations. Vice Chancellor Prof JP Saini highlighted that the new measures are designed to address inconsistencies in marking due to multiple examiners evaluating the same question paper. A key reform is the introduction of a step marking system, which allows marks to be awarded for correct procedural steps, even if the final answer is incorrect. Additionally, the university will appoint head and deputy head examiners for the first time, with their selection based on the number of answer sheets. Each head examiner will be responsible for preparing authentic model answers and answer keys for subjective questions. To enhance the evaluation process, the number of answer sheets per bundle will increase from 25 to 50, and examiners will be required to evaluate at least 50 sheets daily. These changes aim to ensure fair recognition for the hard work of students and timely declaration of results, reinforcing the university's commitment to transparency and accuracy.
