Boston University celebrated its 153rd Commencement on May 17, 2026, at Nickerson Field, where approximately 5,000 graduates gathered alongside 20,000 family members and friends. The day was marked by excitement and joy, despite the unusually warm temperatures reminiscent of summer. The event showcased the achievements of the Class of 2026, with notable speeches from Reshma Kewalramani, the president and CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and student speaker Blake Hanrahan. The photography team, consisting of BU photojournalists Cydney Scott, Jackie Ricciardi, and Janice Checchio, along with seven freelance photographers, captured the essence of the day by taking an astonishing 15,000 photos. From the graduates' proud moments to the vibrant atmosphere, the team curated a selection of around 60 favorite images for a special photo essay, reflecting the spirit of the occasion.
