T. Harish Rao, the Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, has criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for failing to address the plight of farmers suffering from delays in the procurement of Rabi crops. During a visit to a procurement center in Chegunta, Medak district, Rao noted that farmers are in distress, weeping at procurement centers as they face significant delays in selling their produce at the support price. He highlighted that only two lorries have collected paddy from the Karnalapally purchase center since it opened 25 days ago. Unseasonal rains have further damaged crops such as paddy and maize, yet authorities have not purchased the rain-soaked produce even after it was dried. Rao alleged that the Chief Minister has not conducted any tele-conferences with District Collectors or Ministers regarding the procurement issues, and no review meetings have been held in Medak district. He accused the Minister for Civil Supplies, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, of being out of touch with farmers' realities and failing to address the widespread distress. Farmers have reportedly not received payments for their disposed maize, bengalgram, and sunflower produce, with procurement of jowar yet to commence. Rao also mentioned that the government has halted sunflower purchases for 35 days, leading to infestations in market stocks due to lack of action.
