Zaib Zubair Ansari, a 31-year-old accused of a stabbing attack in Mira Road, Mumbai, may have been radicalized by his ex-wife, according to police statements made in a special UAPA court. Ansari allegedly attacked two security guards at a construction site on April 27, confirming their Hindu identity before the assault. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against him and sought an extension of his custody until May 11 to continue their investigation. Public prosecutor Sanjay More informed the court that incriminating materials, including notes referencing ISIS and jihad, were found in Ansari's home. Following the attack, Ansari reportedly attempted to erase evidence from his electronic devices. The ATS is also examining whether he attempted to radicalize his online students while teaching in the UAE. His ex-wife, who briefly lived in India, is suspected of influencing his radicalization. Meanwhile, Ansari's defense counsel has raised concerns about his mental health, stating he suffers from schizophrenia, and has requested a psychological evaluation.
