Anthropic, a prominent AI company, is actively engaging with the Indian government to address cybersecurity risks associated with its powerful AI model, Mythos. This model, which has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to autonomously identify vulnerabilities in widely used software, poses significant threats to critical infrastructure sectors such as banking, energy, and telecommunications. In light of these threats, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a meeting urging banks to maintain a high level of vigilance and develop a coordinated response mechanism. The Ministry of Finance highlighted the unprecedented nature of the threats posed by advanced AI models like Mythos, emphasizing the need for preparedness across financial institutions. Although Anthropic is collaborating closely with the US government to study Mythos and prepare defensive strategies, discussions regarding access to the model between Anthropic and India are not currently underway. Additionally, Anthropic has initiated Project Glasswing to help companies enhance their cybersecurity measures prior to the public release of Mythos.
