India has launched 'Operation Global Hunt', a significant initiative aimed at tracking down fugitives who commit crimes in the country and then flee abroad. This operation involves collaboration between Indian security forces and Interpol, facilitating joint operations worldwide. The framework for this initiative was developed during a previous Interpol conference, focusing on locating and arresting fugitives with the help of comprehensive dossiers submitted to foreign governments. The operation primarily targets individuals linked to international drug syndicates and organized crime networks. Recently, Indian authorities successfully deported Salim Ismail Dola, a close associate of the infamous criminal Dawood Ibrahim, from Istanbul. Investigating agencies have identified 11 key figures in a 'drug-terror network' orchestrating the supply of narcotics into India from abroad. Among them, Jaswinder Singh, alias 'Jazz', and Sunny Kalra are currently in custody of the Dubai Police. India's ongoing anti-narcotics campaign has seen significant success, with 133,000 kg of drugs worth approximately ₹2,000 crore (roughly $240 million USD) seized in 2025, and 37 Interpol notices issued, leading to the conviction of 265 drug offenders.
