The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has commenced the Mumbai 3.0 project by securing 216 acres of land in Raigad district, Maharashtra. This milestone is part of a participatory land acquisition framework that has garnered strong support from local landowners. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted that this project signifies a shift towards people-driven urban development, where citizens actively participate in shaping their environment. The land acquisition offers various options for landowners, including compensation through development rights and a land pooling model that promises a 22.5% return of developed land. The Raigad Growth Centre, strategically located near major infrastructure projects like the Navi Mumbai International Airport, aims to establish a comprehensive urban ecosystem focused on technology, financial services, and logistics. This initiative is projected to generate over 200,000 direct jobs, significantly boosting the regional economy and attracting foreign direct investment.
