The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced an expansion of its services, adding six new trains and 24 additional trips every Monday to accommodate increased passenger demand. This initiative is part of efforts to promote public transport use in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to reduce reliance on private vehicles due to global energy uncertainties. DMRC aims to ensure efficient passenger management by deploying additional staff and enhancing security measures, including more ticketing counters and faster frisking processes. The last-mile connectivity ecosystem has also been expanded, with options like e-rickshaws and bike taxis available at 160 metro stations, currently serving around 100,000 passengers daily. Additionally, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will increase its 1,500 DEVi buses at Metro stations, and a hydrogen-based bus service has been introduced in the Central Vista area to support last-mile transport needs. DMRC is committed to promoting sustainable mobility and reducing fuel dependency while enhancing commuter convenience.
