On Monday night, a failed bombing attempt on the Rajpura-Shambhu railway line in Patiala, Punjab, India, led to the arrest of four men linked to a pro-Khalistan terror module. The incident occurred when a suspected bomber, Jagroop Singh, was killed due to a premature explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) he was planting. The explosion caused minor damage to the freight rail corridor and temporarily disrupted train services. Police identified the arrested suspects as part of a network connected to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and operating under the radical outfit Chalda Vaheer Chakarwarti, Attariye. Investigators allege that Pardeep Singh Khalsa, identified as the kingpin, maintained contacts with handlers in Malaysia and Pakistan to coordinate attacks on public infrastructure. The suspects face multiple charges under various laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The investigation has been referred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further action, and police continue to search for additional accomplices.
