TTV Dhinakaran, General Secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), expelled S Kamaraj, the party's lone Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Mannargudi, for supporting Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Dhinakaran stated that Kamaraj acted independently and against the party's official stance. Kamaraj won his seat by defeating a DMK candidate by 1,566 votes, securing 68,416 votes in total.
The expulsion comes amid a controversy where Dhinakaran accused TVK of submitting a forged support letter allegedly written by Kamaraj.
