In the wake of Tamil Nadu's fractured Assembly election results, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TKS Elangovan has advised Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay to seek alliances with other political parties before approaching the Governor for government formation. Elangovan emphasized that if the AMMK (Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam) MLAs are not backing TVK, there is no reason for them to provide a letter of support. DMK MP P Wilson highlighted the unusual political maneuvering occurring even before the new government is in place, referring to it as 'horse trading.' This situation escalated after AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran attempted to clarify claims regarding a forged letter allegedly supporting TVK. Despite these controversies, TVK insists it does not need to negotiate for support, having already secured backing from smaller parties, including CPI, CPI(M), and Congress, to reach the necessary majority in the 234-seat Assembly.
