The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) successfully intercepted a passenger arriving from Muscat at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, India, seizing 1974 grams of crystal methamphetamine valued at approximately ₹1.58 crore. The drugs were concealed in food packets within the passenger's checked baggage. Following the arrest, the individual was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This operation is part of DRI's broader crackdown on drug trafficking in the region, which has seen significant seizures, including 1.931 kg of methamphetamine earlier this month. Last financial year alone, DRI's Cochin Zonal Unit seized narcotics worth ₹70.76 crore in Kerala, leading to 21 arrests. These efforts align with the Government of India's initiative for a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug Free India).
