Valve is taking steps to prevent scalpers from monopolizing sales of its upcoming Steam Machine, a hybrid gaming device. The company has hinted at four versions of the Steam Machine, which will include two storage configurations: 512GB and 2TB SSD options. Additionally, there will be models available with or without the Steam Controller. To purchase the Steam Machine, buyers will need an active Steam account and must have made a purchase before April 27 to be eligible. Valve is expected to implement a reservation system similar to that used for the Steam Controller, which faced high demand and quick sellouts due to scalpers reselling at inflated prices. While Valve has not yet disclosed the pricing or launch date for the Steam Machine, it is anticipated to be priced similarly to an equivalent gaming PC, potentially requiring a significant financial commitment from buyers.
