Nithin Raj, a first-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student at Kannur Dental College in Anjarakandy, died on April 10 after falling from a building, prompting his family to suspect suicide due to alleged harassment. They met with Kannur City Police Commissioner Nidhinraj P. to demand swift action against two faculty members, Dr. M K Ram and Dr. Sangeetha, who are accused of abetting the suicide and violating the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act. Raj's father, Rajan, expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation, noting that neither of the accused has been arrested yet. He emphasized that the college management failed to address student grievances and insisted that his son's death should not be classified merely as a suicide but as murder. Additionally, police have registered cyber cases against loan app operators who allegedly threatened Raj, with recent arrests made in Noida related to these threats. The family continues to advocate for justice, hoping for a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible.
