On May 14, 2026, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for Phase 3 of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which will take place in 16 states and 3 Union Territories. The first phase of SIR was conducted from June to September 2025, with Bihar being the first state to undergo this process.
