Consumers in Patna, Bihar, are facing significant delays in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) deliveries, with some waiting up to nine days for their refills. This situation starkly contrasts the claims made by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), which states that the average backlog is only 4.15 days in Patna and 4.8 days across Bihar. Customers have reported receiving delivery activation codes (DACs) followed by notifications of further delays, leading to frustration and confusion. For instance, Saurabh Kumar, who booked his refill on April 10, received his cylinder only on April 17, after multiple notifications of delays. The delays have been partially attributed to a recent strike by delivery personnel, who were demanding higher wages. A delivery worker mentioned that their pay increased from ₹11 to ₹15 per cylinder after the strike, yet they still consider it low. IOCL officials clarified that distributors manage the wages of delivery personnel from a commission of ₹73.08 per cylinder, which may impact the efficiency of service.
