The Bharat (BH) vehicle registration series is gaining traction in Pune, Maharashtra, with 7,394 vehicles registered in the financial year 2025-26, a notable increase from 3,955 in 2024-25. This series, introduced in 2021 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, facilitates seamless vehicle movement across India without the need for re-registration in different states. Of the total registrations, 4,637 were cars and 2,757 were two-wheelers. The BH series is particularly beneficial for individuals frequently relocating for work, such as government employees and those in multinational companies. Swapnil Bhosale, the deputy regional transport officer, emphasized the importance of timely tax payments, as penalties can accumulate significantly if payments are delayed. The BH series registration is optional and follows a specific format, making it easier for eligible vehicle owners to manage their vehicle registrations and taxes.
