IIT Madras has launched a new initiative for students who have cleared JEE Main, allowing them to enroll in flexible Bachelor of Science (BS) programs without disrupting their current studies. The programs, which include specializations in Data Science, Electronic Systems, Aeronautics and Space Technology, and Management, aim to provide students with an additional IIT qualification while they continue their regular engineering degrees. IIT Madras Director Prof. V. Kamakoti emphasized that this initiative is designed to make high-quality IIT education more accessible and future-oriented. Eligible students have already begun receiving direct admission emails, with no need for another entrance exam or lengthy admission process. The courses are structured to be completed online, with examinations held at designated centers across India. This dual degree opportunity aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, promoting multidisciplinary learning and flexible educational pathways. As sectors like Artificial Intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing grow, this program is expected to prepare students for emerging job markets, offering them a second chance at IIT-level education.
