The Indian Institute of Technology Madras Global Research Foundation has launched its first center in the United States, located in Menlo Park, California, on April 24. This initiative, announced during the SelectUSA Investment Summit, aims to expand India's deep-tech innovation landscape. The center will be developed with a total investment of $7.5 million, including $4.5 million from IITM Global. It is strategically positioned near Silicon Valley to serve as a launchpad for Indian deep-tech startups, providing access to global capital, mentorship, and market opportunities. Additionally, the center will focus on advancing deep-tech research and commercialization while fostering partnerships between industry and academia. Plans are also underway for a second center on the US East Coast, further solidifying IIT Madras's presence in key innovation corridors. This expansion is expected to enhance collaboration between Indian and US tech ecosystems, as highlighted by discussions between Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra and founders of IIT Madras-incubated startups.
