Google has launched CodeMender, a new AI security agent aimed at enhancing software security by automatically detecting vulnerabilities and suggesting fixes. This tool, developed by Google DeepMind and integrated into the Google Agent Platform, leverages advanced Gemini models, including Gemini 3.5. CodeMender functions similarly to an AI security engineer, scanning source code for bugs and security loopholes, recommending precise fixes, testing them, and applying necessary changes across connected systems with developer approval. This automation is expected to significantly reduce the time required to patch vulnerabilities while ensuring that engineers maintain control over the final decisions. Currently, several Gemini Enterprise customers are testing CodeMender, although Google has not provided a timeline for a broader release. In addition to CodeMender, Google has also introduced an AI Content Detection API to help companies identify AI-generated media, reflecting the growing importance of cybersecurity in the competitive AI landscape.
