Aditya Amrut Kuthe, a 23-year-old contractor from Raigad district, Maharashtra, India, was arrested by the Local Crime Branch for a series of burglaries spanning three years. Kuthe admitted that his addiction to online rummy led him to accumulate debts, prompting him to turn to burglary as a means of repayment. His gambling activities resulted in significant financial losses, yet he maintained a lavish lifestyle characterized by expensive mobile phones and vehicles, which raised suspicions among police. Investigators noted that Kuthe targeted locked homes at night, particularly when residents were briefly away, instilling fear in communities such as Shihu, Bense, Mundhani, and Zhotirpada. He has confessed to several thefts and is linked to multiple cases filed between 2024 and 2026 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with ongoing investigations into the full scale of his crimes.
