On April 16, 2026, the Tamil Nadu-based party, Tamilaga Vivasayigal Katchi (TVK), unveiled its election manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for April 23. TVK chief Vijay announced significant promises, including βΉ2,500 monthly assistance for women and 8 grams of gold for marriage assistance. In an effort to enhance voter accessibility, postal voting will be conducted for senior citizens aged 85 and above, as well as persons with benchmark disabilities, across all 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai district from April 16 to April 18. A total of 8,947 voters who opted for home voting via Form 12D will benefit from this initiative. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is also in the process of distributing Voter Information Slips (VIS) in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, as Phase 1 polling approaches on April 23.
