The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education released the Class 12 (HSC) results for the February-March 2026 examinations, reporting an overall pass percentage of 89.79%, a decline of 2.09 percentage points from the previous year’s 91.88%. Among the 14,44,713 registered students, 14,33,058 appeared for the exams, with 12,86,843 passing. Notably, two students achieved perfect scores of 100%. Girls led with a pass rate of 93.15%, significantly higher than boys at 86.80%, marking a 6.35 percentage point gap. The Konkan division topped the state with 94.14%, while Latur reported the lowest at 84.14%. Stream-wise, the Science stream maintained the highest pass percentage at 96.44%, although it saw a slight decline from 97.35% last year. The Commerce stream dropped to 87.03% from 92.68%, and the Arts stream fell to 78.02% from 80.52%. The board implemented measures to ensure a copying-free environment, yet 1,983 cheating cases were reported. Concerns arose over the results being announced just before the NEET examination, potentially increasing stress for students. Special efforts were made for mark verification and revaluation for science students in competitive exams.
